Diversity has its benefits. Understanding an individual means that we have to be ready to learn what he has to teach us about who he is and
how he sees the world. Sometimes it seems like we are dealing with the problems it brings so much that we fail to be aware of what diversity
does for us.
Instructive example: Bill Waller thought to himself as belonging to the group of people who has one blue eye and one brown eye. It was high
on his list because it gave him notoriety and he only knew one other person in that group. He might not have thought it nearly as important as I
did that he belonged to a group I call kids who’s dads are cops.
